History Teacher
Kelly developed and oversees the academic support program at Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut. She is the coordinator for accommodations and is the main contact for families with questions about extended time at Westminster or with standardized testing. As the Director of Academic Support, she teaches effective study skills through individualized and group instruction. Lessons involve organization, time management, setting and achieving goals, the importance of a great attitude and self-motivation, flexibility, building grit, task initiation, successful note-taking, test-taking strategies, critical thinking skills, active listening and sustained attention, and working memory. She also teaches Global History and Society.
Kelly earned a bachelor’s in education at Plymouth State University with a concentration in reading and special education. She is also trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to reading. She will finish a Masters of Science in special education at Saint Joseph’s University, with a certification in social, emotional, and behavioral wellness this summer.

Maya Leete

Maya earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tennessee in psychology and Hispanic studies. Maya has a Masters in Special Education from Purdue University. While she was an undergraduate, she was the captain of the equestrian team and judo club. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys advising students.
Maya is a Learning Specialist and math teacher at Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut. She is also the head coach of Varsity Volleyball and Junior Varsity Softball. She lives on campus with her partner, Luke McKenna, and their cats Mo(Ana) and Vino. Her interests include puzzling, working out, and traveling whenever possible.
